100 Seconds Film Festival names jury grid

The 12th International 100 Seconds Films Festival has announced jury members.

The 12th edition of International 100 Seconds Films Festival has announced the members of the jury grid for its main competition section.

Reza Mirkarimi, Mohammad Hossein Mahdavian, Monireh Gheidi, Behrouz Shoeibi and Bijan Mirbagheri are set to serve as juror at the event.  

There appears to be some award-winning names among the jury members, including Mohammad Hossein Mahdavian whose ‘Midday Adventures’ was premiered at the 35th edition of Fajr Film Festival where it grabbed a series of awards such as a Crystal Simorgh for the Best Film.

The second sequel for Mahdavian’s film which is titled ‘Midday Adventures: Trace of Blood’ has also bagged Crystal Simorgh for Best Special Effects, Best Costume Design and Best Sound Mixing from the 37th Fajr Film Festival.

Another juror of the festival Behrouz Shoeibi is known mostly by his critically acclaimed ‘Axing’ which brought him 10 nominations from the 36th edition of Fajr Film Festival in Iran and scored 2 Crystal Simorgh awards at the event.

He is a known figure to ifilmers owing to ‘Leila’s Loneliness’, ‘Mehrabad’, ‘The Recluse’ and ‘The Corridor’.

Latest directorial offering of Reza Mirkarimi ‘Qasr-e Shirin’, as another member of the jury, also won Best Film Score and Best Film Script from the 37th Fajr Film Festival.

A total of 2200 short films are submitted from 119 countries to vie at the international competition section of the event.

India, US, Turkey, Britain, France and Italy have the most submissions among other countries.

The main themes of the works submitted to the festival are “morality, children and youth, environment; and social and urban subjects”.

The 12th edition of the International 100 Seconds Film Festival is supervised by Ali Ghorbani.

The festival will be held in Tehran from February 27 to March 1, 2019.
